A unique fusion of world music traditions featuring an awesome array of drums, cymbals, gongs, bells and customised sound effects, merged into a compelling and rhythmically dynamic soundscape.  Gripping and powerful taiko rhythms blend with the intricate finger rhythms of the Indian tabla and Arabic framedrums. The warm tones of the Shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute), and Japanese folk singing are supported by the driving grooves of the African djembe, Cuban bongos and mesmerising phonetic rhythms from South India.

The show has over 40 drums on stage, and features two of the most versatile multi-instrumentalists in the UK. Pete has worked with Björk, Peter Gabriel, Jeff Beck, Zakir Hussain, Kula Shaker, Vanessa-Mae, Rory Gallagher, Bill Bruford and Beth Orton amongst many others, and can count the two recent James Bond movies amongst his film credits. He has an album out on the MELT 2000 label which coincided with his Contemporary Music Network Arts Council UK tour in Autumn 1999. Joji has worked with Bill Evans, Jah Wobble, and spent some years as musical director of the Lindsay Kemp dance company. He has recently released a new album The Gate on Real World records.  Pete and Joji have two top selling world percussion albums on international release.

Time Out: ‘A truly global mix of percussive brilliance. Something memorable guaranteed.’

The Independent: ‘…Will have the audience bouncing off the roof.’

Rhythm Magazine: ‘A strikingly inventive show which left the audience virtually ripping up their seats.’

Quote from Alan Surtees Director - Bridgnorth Folk Festival:   Joji & Pete were quite superb, the standing ovation given by the capacity audience was richly deserved. Of all the many acts over the history of the festival, they along with Baka Beyond have drawn the
largest number of appreciative letters, phone calls, and e-mails. We'd like them back in 2001 with the two extra drummers."
